The Actual Range of Thresholds
The gap between programs is large: from around 550 points in some programs up to about 680 in engineering. The practical implication โ the same psychometric score can be more than enough for one program and a hundred points short for another at the same university.
How the Weighting Works
Admission is generally based on a weighted score that combines the matriculation average with the psychometric score. So a candidate with a very high matriculation average can compensate to some extent for an average psychometric score, and vice versa. In especially competitive programs, the weighting functions as a ranking โ the highest-scoring candidates are admitted until the spots are filled.
Admission Chance Calculators
The university's website and academic information sites offer calculators that let you enter your matriculation and psychometric scores to get an indication. It's important to treat these as indications only: they're based on past data, and the real threshold changes year to year depending on the number of applicants.
Improving Your Score โ How Much It's Worth
A gain of 30โ50 points on the psychometric exam can be the difference between rejection and admission in a competitive program. Anyone who's 20โ40 points below the estimated threshold should consider retaking the exam before giving up on their preferred program.
