Ariel is a relatively small city, but it has several distinctly different shopping areas โ the large mall at the city entrance, a small shopping center next to the campus, and a network of specialty and independent stores scattered around the city. The right choice mainly depends on what you need at that moment: weekly grocery shopping, a quick coffee break, or a specialty store in a specific field.
Mega Or vs. Ariel Center
Mega Or Rami Levy is Ariel's central mall โ 11,700 sq. m., two retail floors, and a supermarket anchor, at 6 HaBanai St. alongside Ron Nachman Boulevard, with 700 free parking spaces. It's built for weekly shopping, fashion, footwear, and services, and draws both city residents and visitors from the region. Ariel Center, by contrast, is a small shopping center right next to the Ariel University campus โ especially convenient for students during breaks between classes, for a quick coffee, or for a single purchase on the way home, but it's not a substitute for comprehensive shopping.
When Mega Or Is the Right Choice
Mega Or is the natural choice when you need more than one thing on the same trip: weekly grocery shopping at the Rami Levy branch, fashion and footwear, and even a few specialty stores located inside the mall itself โ for example Kiwi for children's and baby clothing, and City Shop Ariel for home and garden products. Free, readily available parking also makes it convenient for a longer visit.
When It's Worth Looking Elsewhere
In certain categories, the city's leading stores aren't in Mega Or but on other streets. In electronics and computers, for instance, the two main stores โ Etzel Uzi (4 HaAmal St., focused on repairs) and Kravitz Ariel (2 HaBanai St., office equipment and gaming) โ are located outside the mall. Likewise in home and garden, alongside City Shop in Mega Or, there's Migvan Decor Ariel โ a long-established curtains and fabrics store, operating for over 30 years at 6 Uri Brown St., offering personal expertise and advice that's hard to find at a large chain.
